McAfee Touts Agent-Less
Malware Detection Capability
March 1, 2010
McAfee
has extended its agent-less malware detection capabilities in McAfee
Vulnerability Manager solution to include a weekly top 50 new malware
and top 100 most detected malware content feed. As the volume of threats
continues to increase, businesses need to know immediately how they are
impacted. By leveraging the existing and new malware detection
capabilities, customers of McAfee Vulnerability Manager solution are
able to mitigate threats before they can do damage.
McAfee Vulnerability Manager solution has been leveraged by thousands of
companies as a platform for agent-less malware detection. Agent-less
malware detection augments traditional anti-virus technology by
providing an additional layer of visibility into assets at risk within
the network. In addition to traditional vulnerability detection, it also
detects assets already infected or those that may not have been fully
remediated.
“The
agent-less malware detection in McAfee Vulnerability Manager solution
provides the first line of defense against infected rogue or unknown
assets that connect to the network,” said Stuart McClure, senior vice
president and general manager of the McAfee Risk and Compliance Business
Unit. “We’ve included hundreds of checks for some of the most prevalent
and hard-hitting malware such as the recent Operation Aurora and last
year’s Conficker worm. Extending upon this existing capability, our
customers will benefit – at no additional cost – from the two new
content streams. Combining the enterprise scale and agent-less speed of
McAfee Vulnerability Manager solution with the robust and deep malware
detection capabilities of the McAfee antivirus signature base we are
delivering unprecedented agent-less malware detection to the
enterprise.”
Powered by Global Threat
Intelligence from McAfee – real-time, “in-the-cloud” data collection and
intelligence distribution service that correlates and analyzes data from
millions of data points across all threat vectors – McAfee Vulnerability
Manager solution receives weekly updates that contain that week’s top 50
new malware and top 100 most detected malware content packages. This new
dynamic content capability assures that customers can scan for the most
impactful malware within their network as part of their ongoing
vulnerability assessment workflow. |
