LSI
touted real-time, on-demand, multimedia transcoding software for the
family of LSI StarPro multicore media processors that enables flexible,
cost-effective solutions for any-to-any video communications and
real-time collaboration through next-generation media gateways.
"Demand for high-definition video is growing rapidly, and it is critical
to support services that provide high-quality video regardless of the
format and resolution of the end points," said Will Strauss, principal
analyst with Forward Concepts. "With the introduction of their video
processing software, LSI offers a low-cost, high-performance solution
for a broad spectrum of digital video applications."
Incorporating advanced techniques to efficiently process many video
formats, the new transcoding software provides multi-channel,
state-of-the-art multimedia processing that will enable OEMs to meet the
real-time, high-definition quality requirements for video collaboration
services. It is scalable, field upgradeable and delivers very high
performance while reducing costs.
"The rapid growth of multimedia services has increased the need for
cost-effective, enterprise-class solutions that can enhance video
quality over existing networking infrastructure," said Charlie Kawwas,
vice president of marketing, Networking Components Division, LSI. "Our
customers are using LSI media processing software and StarPro Media
Processors to build the industry’s highest-performing video multimedia
gateways now."
Real-time, multimedia collaboration services are an increasingly useful
tool for both businesses and individuals. The software is available now
from LSI for use with the StarPro SP2600 family of media processors. |
