Russia Today TV to Air
Julian Assange Wikileaks Talk Show
January 25, 2012
Wikileaks
founder Julian Assange is hosting a new talk show that will air on a
Russian state television channel.
RT television announced Wednesday that it will begin broadcasting the
talk show in mid-March. It says Assange is filming the program from the
location of his house arrest in Britain, where he is fighting
extradition to Sweden for rape allegations.
RT television was launched in
2005 as a 24-hour English-language news channel aimed at promoting the
Russian point of view on international issues. It claims a global reach
of more than 430 million people.
The channel has not elaborated on the show's contents, saying “details
of the episodes and the guests featured are secret for now.”
Assange's Wikileaks website has published thousands of stolen,
confidential U.S. diplomatic cables. They included sensitive information
on anti-terrorism activities and candid views on foreign leaders. |
